a little thank you
to this blog for the awesome recipe for granola. I made some on Monday and am totally stocked up for the rest of winter. It's delicious and not all that bad for you,(when I'm not combining it with chocolate chips like I am as I type this :))

Back to the grind
Aaron starts school again this Wednesday and I have mixed feelings about that. I've really enjoyed him being home over the last (almost) two months, I'm pretty used to it. This semester he is only going one night a week so it shouldn't be too bad. He's almost done! This is his last semester then we will be going somewhere new, starting a new journey when he goes on for a Phd.
I am so proud of him, his first publication is coming out in the next few weeks. My sweetie is getting PUBLISHED!! How awesome is that!! I will post a link on here as soon as it is!

I am set!
With some sweet Amazon deals and a good trip to Hobby Lobby, I am set for sewing for the next few months. These books all have yummy clothes to sew for myself, my kiddos and my three close friends that are all expecting this spring.
These booties are up to bat first. Elliot will be the lucky recipiant and I can't wait to see her little chubby feet in them. I'm going to do a pink/black/white color theme with lots of flowers.
I just can't help myself when it comes to fabric. I have many plans for all of this though. I can't wait!
As for knitting these days, I've decided to tackle a big project, knitting a sweater for myself. I would say it is about 2/3rds done and might not get finished until springtime. I've really got to get going on that. And there is a black hat that is about half done somewhere in there. That has to be done by February 15th for my dads birthday so I still have time...

on the hunt:
I've been thrifting a couple times lately and found a few things worth sharing on here.
This goofy cookie jar is right up my alley. We did not even have a cookie jar prior to this so my buy was both practical and silly. I make cookies usually once every two weeks so I can't wait to fill it up.
Buttons, you can never have enough buttons, (or mason jars for that matter,) and this full jar was only $3! Around here they usually sell for around $10 so this was my find of the day for sure!
Salt and pepper shakers, not really a neccesity but how could I resist.
Pyrex bowls! oh my, how did I not start hunting these earlier? I'm a big fan of the seventies style bowls with flowers and anything yellow or green. Oh, and that little pin cushion, I've been on a kick making those for all my friends lately. They turn out so dang cute and do not take very long to make at all. The little vintage buttons are just the cherry on top of them.

Here is to a new
Camera!! This just came in the mail today and me being excited is an understatement!
Here are the first pictures taken with it:
Now, hopefully I will blog a little bit more. I am also thinking about doing the 365 project this year... maybe. I think it might be fun.

muffins and an old friend
just for fun:
I love this time of year when friends are home and they make time to see me! I've been pretty cooped up lately with the baby and Addy. It's been snowing like crazy so we really don't go anywhere, so when I talked to my friend Sarah I was more than happy to get out and have some muffins!!
Seeing eachother once a year is far too long to go. It was snowing like crazy that morning, but so worth it to get out and see her. She even got to meet miss Elliot for the first time!

Elliot's sweater
A few months ago I knit this sweater up for Elliot using the magic loop method. I had seen all over Raverly patterns using that method and was curios how to do it and stumbled onto this blog. With the authors tutorial I knit this sweater that just happened to fit my baby! (I used bigger needles, so instead of the sweater fitting a doll, it fits my now 12 lb baby.)
I then used this pattern to knit a sweater for Aaron's niece for Christmas. I'm thinking Addy will be getting one for her birthday in late April.
